it is interesting to see what you started with and the adjustments considering the kitchen space and the corners and other fixes you keep needing to do to make it work. Looks good and much more of a real life project compared to some demo vid where the space you work with is idea and unproblematic.

This project has been about as 'real life' as they come. The space itself was very challenging to work with and many compromises were required.

The Ikea kitchen planning tool was very helpful. My wife and I spent many hours making detailed measurements of the room and then juggling all of the components available to come up with a workable solution.

The 3d Kitchen Planning tool isn't perfect , but it was great to have a good inventory list when we went to the store to place our order.

Well, it was interesting to check out all the videos. We're getting ready to remodel our kitchen with IKEA cabinets. It must have been difficult trying to work in such a small space. I'm guessing our Tucson kitchen alone is about the size of your NYC apartment. Of course, that means more cabinets to assemble and install. Thanks for sharing.

Your project should be a lot smoother. The super tight spaces added many complications - like having to install all the appliances before the cabinet work was done.

It'll take time to build the additional cabinets themselves, but hanging them will go quickly with the rail-mount system on IKEA cabinets.

Good luck.

@wdworking There are stops at each end top and bottom that determine the offset. These stops have variable settings depending on the bit/bushing combination you are using. So if you are justified against the stops and the two pieces meet exactly flush and the bit depth is set right, you can just get in a groove and go. Each template is different, but these half blind jigs all work on the same mechanics. Even after all these years I still cut a scrap joint first to check my setup.

Does it matter much that you don't have half pins at each end? This is because you can't adjust the pin-tail spacing.

@smfield That's right. This type of jig is fixed. I would have had to trim the stock to make the spacing work out.
